The Food and Garden Festival at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
On Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st, the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is home to multitudes of gardening and cooking experts. The Food and Garden Festival is a weekend dedicated to gathering tips for your garden and your culinary skills.
Shop at the 32nd Annual Spring Plant Sale and the Farmer's Market to get the best deals on this season's must-haves for your garden and the freshest fruits and veggies for your fridge. There will be cooking demonstrations every couple of hours by local chefs and the Fairchild Challenge Green Cuisine Finalists from Homestead and Central Miami High Schools.
There will also be lectures and educational sessions on subjects like Summer Tropical Gardening, Urban Agriculture and the Healing Power of the Garden. There is also local music, poetry and kid's activities.
This event has an admission fee of $25 for adults, $18 for seniors (65+) and $12 for kids (6-17). Admission is free for Fairchild Members and children 5 and under.
In an effort to support the green movement, there is also an eco-discount. Receive $5 off regular adult admission ($2 off for kids) if you walk, take the bus or ride your bike to the event. There's even bike valet provided by Green Mobility Network.
